NSW - Mootwingee - A Story from Kate Blake, Nyah, Victoria.
From Kate Blake, Nyah, Victoria - Mootwingee
    From: blake@apollo.ruralnet.net.au

A few years ago, my family and I went on a holiday to Mootwingee, a gorgeous campsite past Broken Hill. The first two days there were magic. We sat out in the sun and went on long walks through the gorgeous red cliffs. Of course, the gods don't like us to be too happy, so on the third day it started to pour down rain, which soon saturated our tent. Onlookers described the flash flood that came rushing down the the previously dry creek bed as a wall of water. As we were situated at the lowest point in the campground, we moved up onto dryer land. Of course, two of our tent poles snapped and we found ourselves sleep in the car that night. We weren't the worst off though. At least two people found themselves stranded at the toilets, surrounded by deep swirling water. We survived it though and it was quite an experience.

We welcome your comments, advice, suggestions, recommendations and even your horror stories. Every story in Travellers Tales has been carefully checked. There are, as far as we can determine, no attempts at free publicity from proprietors masquerading as happy travelers.

If you have a tale to tell send us an email and we'll let others know about your experiences.
